Controller/ Accounting Manager

Our Client a privately held media company, based in New York City, provides advertisement efforts of some of the world’s largest brands and agencies – from Anheuser Busch, Southwest Airlines, Disney and NHL to TBWAChiatDay, WPP’s M80, Universal Music/Geffin Records, among many.
Seeking – Controller / Accounting Manager
Base 90k – 110k
The Company is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a Controller to provide accounting and financial reporting leadership within the organization. The ideal candidate is a CPA with 3-5 years as a Controller and accounting and finance experience, has a passion for entrepreneurship, and is looking to join a fast-paced organization. The Controller will be expected to work as part of the finance team. The position is based in New York, NY and reports to the CFO.
Responsibilities
•Responsible for the monthly and annual close of the books and records; includes overseeing general ledger preparation and preparing and maintaining balance sheet and P&L schedules
•Develop and implement GAAP accounting policies and procedures, including revenue recognition, capitalization of software development costs, stock compensation and other equity transactions
•Establish and maintain appropriate controls to ensure the safeguarding of assets and accurate financial reporting
•Ensure proper, timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and financial processing and reporting
•Lead audit activities for 3 years as a Controller
•Participate in annual budget, forecasting and capital planning processes
•Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
•Monitor cash flow and capital requirements
•Oversee payroll
•Conduct financial analysis as needed
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree and CPA required
•3-7 years GAAP accounting experience (3 years minimum); Big 4 or major public accounting firm experience strongly preferred
•2 Years managing a team as a Controller
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks
•Highly motivated self-starter with roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic
•Analytical and detail oriented with well-developed financial analysis capabilities
•Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
•Organized, ability to multi-task
•Works well independently and in a team setting
•Willing to work extra hours when needed
•Work well with fast-paced deadlines
•Need to produce, be accurate and meet monthly goals
