SQL Database Architect
at Synergy One in Tampa, Florida
The SQL Database is responsible for designing, managing, administering, documenting and providing technical and strategic support for business-critical database systems.
This job leverages senior-level experience to provide database-related technical support, database design and data modeling to meet client objectives and/or Targetbase product needs.
Responsibility Overview:
• Database design and modeling to support new feature development and enhancement of existing features
• Define and implement highly scalable database architectures utilizing SQL Server and Oracle technologies
• Provide IT support to the current data warehouse implementation
• Ongoing production support meeting rapid turnaround requirements from customers to retrieve, modify, or add data and produce reports
• Own and optimize ETL functions and the population of reporting databases
• Utilize Transact-SQL to produce custom scripts and reports
• Database administration, system tuning and monitoring
• Maintain internal databases and database servers to support engineering and implementation teams in the development, quality assurance, and staging environments
• Work closely with the Software Engineering team to provide support on database changes and development approaches
• Provide direction to Database Administrators on day to day operations
• Design, plan, implement and support SQL clustering
Qualifications
• Strong experience in both database administration and database architecture
• Vast knowledge of the Microsoft stack, particularly SQL Server 2005 and 2008
• Production support experience in meeting one-off customer requests in short time periods
• Expert in T-SQL scripting to retrieve, modify and add data to produce reports
• Understanding of physical database system components and their configuration (servers, storage, failover, backup, etc.)
• Experience in a fast-paced, agile development methodology using scrum and sprints
• Experience with some or all of the following a plus: Netbackup, Unix, Informix, .NET development, .NET C#, IIS
• Data Warehouse design and implementation experience a plus
• Solid understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Local Storage a plus
