Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Mid-Level Server Administrator with 5 years of hands on experience managing MS Exchange and server operations for internal and customer-facing systems.

Additional qualities required: Minimum of 3 years experience with Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003, Active Directory and VMWare/ESX. Experience with Linux, Solaris and MS SQL Server 2000/2005 a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Maximize and maintain the efficiency of company’s hardware platforms by implementing procedures to review hardware and software error logs and preventive maintenance process checks and procedural safeguards. Ensure system shutdown and startup processes can be successfully completed in an unattended and automated process.
• Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange 2003 environment with all associated and necessary connections into Active Directory.
• Manage and maintain Microsoft Active Directory for multiple domains.
• Assist in the support of all VMWare ESX/ESXi environments hosting internal and customer-facing servers and web sites.
• Install/Configure operating system using standard build processes on all new and updated equipment brought into Data Center.
• Pro-actively, but prudently apply all necessary system software patch releases and/or upgrades for all Microsoft system software and supplemental environmental and application software.
• Develop and maintain documentation on all production operating procedures. Such items would include run instructions for hardware start up/shut down procedures and system backup procedures.
• Act as backup administrator for several storage-related services within the company’s environment (EMC, NetApp, etc.)
• Administer desktop backup server and client platforms. Monitor daily activity and proactively follow-up on any open issues.
• Monitor the daily error logs to review the success or unsuccessful job statuses and take appropriate escalation procedures to resolve unsuccessful job problems.
• Provide support to Technology Operations for company’s disaster recovery plan.
• Provide back up support to the other server and network service administrators.

• Participate in any assigned special projects.
