Description:

90% of this position’s time is spent maintaining the productivity of the company’s SQL databases including production support, capacity planning, disaster recovery and maintenance of a 24×7 on-call operation.
10% of this position is spent assisting cross training and working with 3 party vendors.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Review IT changes for potential security and compliance issues
• Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems
• Ensure that IT trouble tickets are answered promptly within SLA guidelines and updates are completed regularly on all issues
• Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization
• Ongoing development of a rich IT knowledge base.
• Communicate problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, and unit leaders
• Provide training and recommendations for new technologies in improving the environment.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and resolve highly complex technical issues including performance tuning Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views & Functions on highly available databases.
• • Review and deploy all schema changes across all non-development stages
• Manage the regular flow of data from production back to staging environments
• Regularly analyze logs for performance enhancements (slow queries, errors, etc.)
• Documenting Database backup and recovery plans

Development Support

• Remain familiar with PCI and vendor requirements
• Provide software build support and ongoing assistance with build activities to ensure timely delivery of testing and production software builds in a highly dynamic software development lifecycle process.
• Design and develop advanced database solutions, including T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions and schemas to enable and support Development objectives.
• Promote good SQL coding practices and apply functional area expertise to optimize the programming results.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to the company’s resources on database architecture, design, advanced features and structural enhancements.
• Provide mentoring, guidance and direction to development staff in techniques for writing efficient SQL code.

Requirements:

Education and Certification
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, and/or 3 years equivalent work experience.
• One or more relevant Microsoft certifications; MCAP, MCTS (SQL Server), MCDBA

Knowledge and Experience
• Minimum 5 years experience with advanced Microsoft SQL Server (2000/2005/2008) concepts
• Minimum 5 years advanced knowledge of Microsoft Architectures
• Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
• Familiarity with change control.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of PCI compliance a plus.
