Senior MySQL DBA

Synergy One is seeking a MySQL Administrator for our Palm Harbor, FL client.

Primary Responsibilities:
Leads the design, development, integration and maintenance of complex, enterprise MySQL databases. Directs the design, implementation and test of MySQL database backup, recovery systems, database migration and archiving systems and procedures. Must have strong expertise in Oracle/SQL to MySQL Transition. Requires experience in MySQL running in virtualized environments. Design and implementation of highly available solutions, with extensive knowledge of replication and scaling. Researches issues and provides strategic direction related to MySQL database security. Recommends proper hardware and software implementations to improve software quality, efficiency and minimize cost. Defines architecture and thresholds for MySQL database monitoring and performance management. Provides consultation on strategic direction for database design, development and maintenance. Collaborates with architects and technical specialists to identify proper hardware and software implementations. Plans, installs and tests software upgrades and patches. Performs requirement definition as relates to all aspects of MySQL enterprise implementations. This is a Sr. Level role in which candidates will be expected to perform at a high level. This role will act as the subject matter expert for everything MySQL related and work with other functions to provide integrated solutions.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Review, develop, and design data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; create logical data models and translate into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures. Monitor relational databases to optimize performance, resource use, and physical implementations; address a variety of integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications. Maintain development, test of the required LSI production environments. Monitor and maintain database security and database software, in cooperation with Information System Security Manager (ISSM). Provide advice to applications programmers in the effective use of database languages; advise on troubleshooting, exception processing and other data management issues. Maintain availability and integrity of databases through multiple access schemes; facilitate sharing of common data by overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary maintenance. May evaluate and recommend testing of new procedures, software, and hardware. Monitor and manage database backups, logs, and journals; install, maintain, and upgraded software; restore and/or recover data as required. Create, procure and maintain important documents such as manuals and programmers' handbooks. May provide 24 hour on-call support.
